The 2021 Honda CBR150R has been launched in Indonesia. The updated model comes with a much more aggressive bodywork similar to the Honda CBR250RR. It also gets a more premium Showa SFF-BP inverted front fork and a rear monoshock. Interestingly, apart from providing a more sophisticated damping, the front fork isn’t preload-adjustable like the telescopic fork in its predecessor.

Other than this, the bike also features a 6-speed transmission with an assist-and-slipper clutch. The assist function is claimed to reduce the lever effort by 15 percent whereas the slipper clutch prevents the rear wheel from locking up during hard downshifts. That said, the engine is still the same 149.16cc DOHC single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as before. It also churns out the same output: 17.1PS at 9000rpm and 14.4Nm at 7000rpm.

The bike comes with a dual-channel ABS as an optional variant. The new Honda CBR150R is unlikely to be launched in India as its asking price would be too high for a bike of its category. Instead, Honda is planning to introduce its entire 500cc parallel-twin lineup in 2021, including the Honda CBR500R. All said and done, we hope Honda realises the potential of the 150cc performance motorcycle segment as well as the Yamaha R15 V3’s unhindered domination and brings us the new CBR150R, perhaps in 2022.
